the candle flame floats like a leaf
blowing in the wind
it reaches point up to the sky
while rooted at its stem
the wax creates a lake of water
melted by the heat
gathering its energy
from the flicker’s feet
the flame stays fluid in this space
fueled by gentle air
yet one breath that blows a gust too strong
will make it disappear
